"BREAKING: 2016 VGMA Cancelled.
Charter House Gives Reasons | Bisa
K’dei Comments | Top Artistes Withdraw
| Sponsors Withdraw
BY STAFF · FEBRUARY 27, 2016
The 2016 edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music
Awards has been called off by the organizers few
days after releasing the nominations for the awards.
Several top musicians have shown their displeasure
at the kind of Artistes and Songs nominated for
various categories.
Bisa K’dei told ondamic.com he is no more
interested as his hit songs “Mansa” and “brother
brother” were not recognized by the organizers.
“Mansa” received a nomination while “Brother
Brother” was missing.
“I am no more interested. They should take off my
name and song off immediately. Everyone will bear
with me that ‘Mansa’ is supposed to lead
nominations. I don’t know how they came up with
these”. Bisa K’dei told ondamic.com.
Speaking to Ondamic.com, George Quaye, PR for
Charter House, the organizers of the event said this
year’s awards ceremony has been cancelled for
various reasons.
“We have called off this year’s ceremony. Several
top acts have called us to remove their names
immediately and Vodafone has shown great remorse
for sponsoring the event due to how the brand has
been attacked for negligence on our part. Other
sponsors are withdrawing. Banning Shatta Wale is a
big mistake we did since we are awarding talents
and works but not attitudes.” He told ondamic.com.
“Look at how we nominated Teephlow and later had
to remove him. In fact we are confused. I personally
don’t even know what Sarkodie’s ‘Hand to Mouth’ is
doing in there while the ‘Revenge of the Spartans’ is
nowhere to be found. So as I said, we have called it
off. We are dissolving the board and will come back
better next year.” He added."

Checking from the official site ghanamusicawards.com we realised there was no such formal announcement by the organisers. Further investigations prove that Ondamic.com is a satirical and as such are lacking in credibility. We entreat all readers to regard such news as a hoax.
